Home Comforts
The art of housekeeping
Learning the art is my latest project, breaking through the chaos.
Winter 2011 Laundry
Doing the laundry one or two days a week depending on the size of your family.
Having a family of eight, we need two main washing days per week.
Start by sorting the washing into fabrics, then by colour, have your piles ready before you start the machine. This week it was so nice not to have to do laundry every day of the week and it freed up time for me to do other things. When one of the children had a bedtime accident, I threw the blankets in the washer, hung them, dried them and had them back on the bed that night.
It is recommended to do your ironing on a separate day to your washing and drying, as this takes up quite some time. That is if you do ironing, I like to as it is incentive for me to put the clothes away instead of leaving the folded up piles lying around or in baskets.
This way you actually finish the washing, that is such an achievement in my home.
Next mission: inside the cupboards!
