Family Meal
A meal at home should be treated as an important event & the whole household should be present regularly.
- Everyone should stay seated at the table until the meal is over, unless there are exceptional reasons why they should leave the table.
- Turn of all electronic distractions & enjoy the emotional company of your family.
- No one should be forced into, or feel pressure to eat, but should be offered food with love.
- All children can help with the setting & clearing of the table.
We eat together in the dining room, as a family each night.
Menu Planning on a Budget
Planning meals is a very important skill to have in prioritising & managing your time. The more time you spend planning, the less time you will spend putting fires out when things fall out of place.
Nicole Avery over at Planning With Kids has the best advice on Meal Planning! She also supplies a free printable Weekly Menu Planner.
You can also print a free Menu Planner Checklist from printablechecklists.com
If you need ideas on what to cook with the ingredients you have at hand you can input the ingredients you have at Supercook & it will not only give you links to recipes, but suggest other ingredients that you may have to give you more options.
I have a two month meal plan & stock up on essential pantry items once every two months, I have my bread, milk, eggs, cheese, fruit & veg delivered weekly by Aussie Farmer’s Direct, saving me valuable time in shop runs & we always have a sufficient amount of staples.
Healthy Snacks
Healthy eating begins at home, create a healthy atmosphere for your children by always having healthy options available to them.
It’s a good idea to always have healthy snacks on hand for the kids, when you pick them up from school, on the way to/from or between sporting practice, or extra-curricular activities.
